The ACE Awards Ceremony, sponsored by the Society of Automotive Engineers of China and organized by Sinotrust was held in Beijing on December 30, 2008. This event was greatly supported by the China Automobile Dealers Association and China Passenger Car Association. Senior officials and industry experts attended the ceremony and presented rewards to the prize-winning companies.
Eight major awards—“ACE-Product Design,” “ACE-Quality Performance,” “ACE-Completely Built-up,” “ACE-Sales and After-sales Services,” “ACE-Auto Manufacturer,” “ACE-New Cars,” “ACE-Self-owned Brands,” and “ACE-Energy Saving and Environmental Protection.” were announced at the ceremony, and 27 new models from 19 automakers received the rewards.
In the mini sedan, small sedan, compact sedan, middle-sized sedan, middle- and large-sized sedan, MPV, SUV, mini bus, and light bus market segments, F0, Lova, Corolla, Accord, Teana, S-MAX, Qashquai, and Iveco were awarded the “ACE-Product Design;” Spark, Yaris, Tiida HB/SD, Magaton, Audi A6, Odyssey, CR-V and Transit were awarded “ACE-Quality Performance;” VW Touareg and Lexus ES350 were awarded the “ACE-Completely Built-up;” Dongfeng Honda, FAW-VW Audi and BMW Brilliance were the first three winners of the “ACE-Sales and After-sales Services;” Dongfeng Honda, Guangzhou Honda and FAW-VW won the “ACE-Auto Manufacturer;” Lavida was awarded the “ACE-New Cars;” Besturn was awarded the “ACE-Self-owned Brands;” and Weizhi was awarded the Annual Theme Award—“ACE-Energy Saving and Environmental Protection.”
Jointly initiated by the Society of Automotive Engineers of China and Sinotrust, ACE, Auto Customer Expectation, was officially kicked off on August 2006 and was a milestone of Sinotrust customer satisfaction survey. The survey features Scientific, Professional, Objective and Authoritative, with a research system up to international standards and compatible to Chinese auto market at the same time. Up to now, it has been well accepted to be the most rational and authoritative automobile customer satisfaction survey in China. ACE covers a complete range of passenger car products, including sedans, SUVs, MPVs and light buses. In 2008, imported car owners were also included in the survey. Apart from the previous five evaluation indices—APS, IQS, PQS, PPS, SS and ASS, customer evaluation on the products’ energy conservation & environmental protection, sales price and features were also added to the 2008 survey, which helps improve the evaluation system.
This survey has four features: one, wide regions covered—nearly 10,000 car owners in different age segments, in different classes and from 36 major auto consuming cities in China were interviewed; two, a rich variety of brands and models—104 locally made passenger car models (incl. 2008 new models) and mainstream models from10 import brands were involved in the survey; three, objectiveness and authenticity—this survey was guided by senior industry experts using rational sampling technologies, so it is highly representative and is able to give a real picture of the market; four, professionalism and independence—this survey was conducted by a national academic organization and an authorized research and consulting institution in the automobile field, which guaranteed that this is a professional and independent survey.
To give publicity to the survey results, a “ACE” tour was initiated in Beijing, Shenzhen, Wuhan, Hangzhou, Chengdu and Kunming in 2008, and the organizers plan to conduct 2009 “ACE” national tour in ten key auto consuming cities including Beijing, Shenzhen, Wuhan, Yantai, Hangzhou, Kunming, Xi’an, Chongqing, Shenyang and Dalian.
